Lately: November 2015
Clearly, I haven’t been keeping up with my WEEKLY updates. To be honest, life hasn’t really been too interesting lately, so it’s been hard for me to scramble enough material together to post an update every week. Instead, I’m going to regularly post LATELY updates every once in a while, just to let you know what I’ve been up to.
I took these autumn-themed photos a little while ago, somewhere around the end of October and early November. When I came back from California, it was kind of weird to get used to the Dutch autumn season again. I hate missing the sunshine, but the orange leaves were some sight of consolation. I wanted to enjoy the season as much as I could, so I also went on a few cycling trips to the woods.

Lots of Pink
Both my cacti are blooming, one hot pink (not pictured) and the other a pinkish red (pictured). One of those plants is an offshoot I got from my mother’s plant. She’s had that original cactus ever since she was my age. They never fail to bloom in November! You may not believe me, but I didn’t use a filter for that photo of those pink clouds. I only upped the contrast slightly. I took it at sunset a few days ago. The sun was nowhere to be found, but the clouds blocking the last few rays turned an orange-pinkish hue.
Dutch City Hopping
I’ve been seeing a lot of the Netherlands the past few weeks. I graduated from Amsterdam University College at the end of June and decided to start a master’s program in September 2016. That means during autumn I have had a lot of ‘free’ time to think about master’s programs I might want to do. I went to information sessions in Tilburg, Nijmegen, Utrecht, Leiden, and Amsterdam. That’s some serious Dutch city hopping, but I think I finally made a decision. I also visited the recently reopened Scheveningen pier a little while ago. The views from the top of the pier tower are amazing!

Blogging Regularly
Ever since I came back from the States, I committed myself to regularly blogging at least once a week. I even started a new Friday feature: 5 Facts. I blogged about Dordrecht; the oldest city in Holland, told you about all the ice cream I ate in my Bologna Food Log, and wrote about the famous Tiananmen Square in Beijing. My personal highlight of all the recent blog posts is definitely my post about the incredible Plitvice Lakes. There is nothing else like it. It’s probably impossible to take a bad photo of those waterfalls (even if you tried). I’ve also started to publish posts about my recent trip to the California, including locations like Huntington Beach and Downtown San Diego!
I’ll keep up the regular blogging. See you in the next LATELY!
