Ideas for Interior Design: Bedroom Inspiration

Interior Design: Bedroom Inspiration

My room is going to have an extreme make-over (imagine me screaming this through a megaphone like a complete lunatic)! It used to be mermaid paradise to devoted dolphin lover to absolutely hating the dolphin theme to a desperately chaotic colour scheme. The walls were painted mint greenish, my curtains were red and orange, and my furniture was dark blue. Oh, and I shouldn’t forget to mention the gold and yellow accents everywhere in the room. So basically, it was complete interior vomit. It had gotten to such a state that I was too ashamed to invite any friends up to my room *sob*.  Fortunately I convinced my parents (after nagging for about half a year) to allow me to repaint my whole room off-white and “sandcastle” (as it said on the label) beige.

Since then I’ve been on the lookout for some inspiration and creative ideas and I’d like to share a few examples I found:

I have the same bedsheets (the floral ones) ♥

Photo Collage

One of the easiest ways to spice up your empty walls (or even your bedframe) is to add an easy photo collage. It’s a wonderful way to add some personalised decoration to your room and remind yourself of all those great moments. You can do it in a messy way, rows, or like a little garland. All of it works!

Empty Photo Frames

I had never thought of this before, but photo frames can be pretty even without photos. I like how it leaves room for imagination. The photo shows a very creative example of a mix of mirrors, empty photo frames, filled photo frames. Whatever you want, just let loose!

Waterfall of String Lights

String lights or fairy lights add a nice touch of cosy ambiance lighting. Putting them near your bed always works well, but you can put them anywhere you like. This waterfall of string lights looks almost magical! I love the idea of combining it with an overhanging piece of fabric above the bed.

Printed Roller Blinds

If you want to maximise the amount of space for wall art, consider buying printed roller blinds. If you’re tight on budget, perhaps you could even draw on inexpensive plain ones and make it a DIY project. You could do a drawing or make a type of pattern with stamps or markers. I can’t believe I never thought of this one!

  1. Hahaha, thanks! I think I will take some when it’s completely finished.

p.s. When I’m having one of those “I don’t feel like cleaning my room” moods, which usually lasts about 2 months, my room still looks like a disaster (you’re not alone! =P)

  2. Ahh those pics are so awesome! I bet with your style your bedroom will be absolutely amazing! You should definately make some photos when you finish it :)!

p.s. Haha interior vomit…well that’s what my room looks like lol
